I can't give a recommendation for the on-season since I was here off-season. Fantastic staff, clean neat area and facilities and the beach, a long beach, right there. We were in our RV site near the dunes. We often had the entire beach to ourselves and, best of all, the sound of the pounding surf throughout the night. Oh! and kite flying!
Great place...super clean facilities Dorie and Ed were so helpful. The Sheilas cafe serves up a hearty meal and a very affordable price. A.small 'store' up the road has pretty much everything except meats and other dinner items. Either shop before you get here or drive 16 miles to get to a food lion. Will return. Thanks.
Great beach KOA. Has nice pool, and play equipment for kids. Good clean modern bath houses w/laundry. Easy beach access regardless of your site location. Also has rental cabins in case you are a non-RVer or ⛺. Great service staff. They even pick up your trash from your site daily.
Our family totally enjoyed our stay at here at KOA Cape Hatteras! The friendly staff is great and very helpful. Beach is beautiful. Shower houses are cleaned regularly. Pool and hot tub is wonderful. Cafe on site is good and reasonably priced. We stay four nights, a family of 10.
It is very picturesque, but I didn't explore it very much. For the majority of the time, the showers were well kept, as well as the restrooms. Occasionally there would be a cold shower - but I think it was isolated to only a certain stall or two - as not all of us would experience a cold burst on the same trip. Oh, BTW, they have cabins and mini condos on site too if you don't have a camper or tent. I had my drone, and there was no issue flying on the KOA property - actually had some staff stop by and watch and interact. Should we return, (with the travel trailer or tent) we will definitely be staying here again.
We had a great time here at this KOA. We traveled with 4 adults and 4 kids (ages ranging from 13 to 4). This is a great KOA especially if you have kids. From the bounce pillow, to the playground, to the pool, to the game room, to pedal kart rentals, to the basketball court, and lets not forget the BEACH - there was plenty to keep them busy without ever leaving the campground. It is conveniently located close to the Dairy Queen (ice cream and Hot dogs), the Top Dog Cafe (great burgers and other entrees), and also has an on site restaurant (with hand scooped ice cream). The KOA store had a variety of little things you may need, and the staff was friendly. There are two laundry sites - 1 at the main building, and a smaller one with the smaller bath house. There are two bath houses 1 larger near the center of the campground, and the smaller closer to the beach. There are outdoor showers and restrooms immediately off of the beach with one family shower room. The KOA owns the property across road, where there is a small pier into the sound.
